Turkish Respiratory Journal

Thoracic Society was founded in 1992 with the aims of reorganising the Turkish chest physicians in a similar structure to ATS and ERS, improving the quality of residency training and standardization in Turkey, guiding Turkish physicians in therapy of chest diseases and protecting the rights of Turkish chest physicians. This resulted in 10 local branches and 14 study groups. Today Turkish Thoracic Society has now more than 2200 members, 15 local branches throughout Turkey and 16 study groups. Majority of members are pulmonologists, others being thoracic surgeons, pediatricians, critical care physicians, physical therapists, pathologists and physiologists.

Turkish Respiratory Journal (TRJ) is one of the official publications of Thoracic Society in English. The main objective of the Editorial Board is to apply to be covered by the Science Citation Index. To this end, several criteria need to be strictly followed, including the timeliness of the publication, currency and relevance of the articles, adherence to international editorial conventions and citations to other national studies.

We would like to thank all our reviewers who are prompt and diligent, Journal's biostatistics consultant Ahmet Uğur Demir, who goes through the biostatistics of all studies submitted, our publishers Bayt and Pleksus, who are very professional and finally our editorial board (Sinan Erginel, Demet Karnak, Fatma Evyapan,Fusun Öner Eyuboğlu). All staff including editors, editorial board and reviewers are serving with the principle of willingness and of scientific devotion without any profit except scientific satisfaction. We believe that TRJ will achieve its aims with all these highly motivated people working for its success.
